4 slices of crusty Italian bread, sliced 1-inch thick
3 large eggs
3/4 cup whole milk
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
1 tablespoon lemon zest
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
2 tablespoons salted butter
1 tablespoon canola oil
