These festive sparkling cranberry blackcurrant lime cocktails are a perfect companion to your holiday spread — and good eats and drinks are always one of my favorite things about the season.
One year my family decided change up Christmas dinner by creating a themed menu based on popular meals from the Dickensian era. It was complete with roast duck, Dutchess potatoes, Yorkshire pud, plum pudding and a host of other treats!
(Keeping it real: I wasn’t as big of a fan of the plum pudding as I’d hoped, though it was super exciting to light it on fire!)
Since then, each Christmas we’re all together, we’ll be picking a different theme. Something that continues to shirk everyday modern fare and stretches us a bit as home cooks. And, it’s potluck-style, so all the guests are responsible for a piece of the menu — so fun!
Putting the edibles on the pseudo-back burner for a bit, in addition to having fun with food during the holidays, my sister and I also like to pick a deliciously festive cocktail to enjoy, often bubbly and definitely with citrus, like a grapefruit cocktail, mojitos with gin, or these sparkling cranberry blackcurrant lime cocktails!
Sparkling Cranberry Blackcurrant Cocktails
For this cocktail, I mixed Sparkling Gourmet Blackcurrant Lime syrup into a cold, extra fizzy bottle of carbonated water. Then, into individual glasses, I poured an ounce each of fresh lime juice and gin, followed by enough of the mixed fizzy water to fill the glass.
A few tart, fresh cranberries were dropped on top, along with a sprinkling of fresh lime zest. YUM!
You can easily make a delicious “mocktail” version of this by omitting the gin, by the way. Just in case…
- 1 ounce fresh lime juice
- 1 ounce gin
- 1 teaspoon fresh lime zest
- 5 fresh cranberries
- 4 ounces Sparkling Gourmet Blackcurrant Lime syrup
- 1 lime slice
- 1 ice cube (optional)
- Place the ice cube into a cocktail glass.
- Pour the lime juice and gin over top, followed by the Sparkling Gourmet Blackcurrent Lime carbonated water.
- Garnish with lime zest, cranberries, and a slice of lime on the rim.
Make this a "mocktail" by omitting the gin!
