I’m sitting here watching season 3 of Game of Thrones as I write this post.
Game of Thrones is, shall we say, an interesting piece of period drama, and not for the feint of heart. The part of me that read and watched the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy was dying for a television show to rival how intricate that story line is, and utterly genius depth of plot.
While the Game of Thrones plot is definitely intricate and filled with several story lines and dozens of characters, I just don’t find myself as enamored with it all as many of my friends.
Before embarking on a season 1 and 2 marathon, I asked my friends, “Should I read the novels first?” (No, they all said. Not necessary.) The books have quite a cult following, more-so even than the television show. But I decided not to, and instead spent a couple weeks with On Demand, burning my way through those first episodes.
Do I love it? Maybe not love, but I am enjoying the series. Enough that I actually remember to watch it each week when it’s on, rather than playing it On Demand later in the week.
Are you watching Game of Thrones?
