Father’s Day Strawberry Dessert {Part I}

Last updated on June 17, 2012 by Liza Hawkins

Today it’s Father’s Day and most of our Sunday involves not a whole lot of anything until later this afternoon when we head to my parents’ small farm about 40 minutes away.
I hear my mom’s roasting a duck.
And my sister’s making her awesome, cheesy mac ‘n cheese, and some other delish vegetarian side to go with it I’m sure, as she’s the non-meateater of the family. Remind me to have her guest post that mac ‘n cheese recipe….
I’m bringing one big, fat steak for my husband, who would graciously eat the duck but would also not consider it a Father’s Day “treat” for him.
Also? I’m bringing dessert. Dessert with a strawberry theme, which seems perfect for summer and also takes care of the two pounds of red beauties I bought on sale last week but no one’s eaten.
Here’s a preview of the strawberry goodness, and more will come in a follow-up post.
What desserts do you like to make for late spring, early summer holidays like Father’s Day?

  1. Liza,

    Those strawberries look stunning – I’ll look forward to the later blog post. I’m not a big baker but I made Coconut Madeleines for my Dad. Father’s Day is a great way of celebrating your nearest and dearest. Hope your hubbie enjoyed the steak 🙂

  2. This is exactly why I’m crossing fingers that my parents get the house they put an offer on so that they’ll live 20 minutes away from me instead of 20 hours!! I would give anything to have fun get-togethers like this. Hope you had a great day!! xo
