Food Challenge: Polenta!

Last updated on March 20, 2011 by Liza Hawkins

Well, gang – the poll is up and ready for your vote! There are four yummy contenders: Polenta Parmesan, Cheddar Polenta (made with milk), Slow Cooker Polenta, and Alton Brown’s Savory Polenta.

Minus one recipe submitted by @DArtagnan_Inc that seemed intimidating to me for three reasons:

  1. It was a recipe for grits that I would’ve had to convert to polenta. Not necessarily an impossible task, but when you’ve never made polenta NOR grits…. Yeah. Intimidating. Maybe in a month. Maybe an April Food Challenge?
  2. The above recipe called for ‘black truffle butter’ and ‘duck demi-glace,’ both of which I doubt I can find at Bloom my neighborhood market. Also thinking I may have to budget for this one.
  3. My sister will be joining me for Polenta Night on Saturday the 26th, and she’s a vegetarian. Not sure she’d appreciate the duck demi-glace and Heritage Ham, even if she would have loved it in a past omnivore life.
Having said that, however, I’m super excited for any of the four options in the poll! Happy voting, and thank you to those that shared your favorite recipes!

  1. Stopping by from PBD. Your blog is gorgeous. I feel like a foodie just looking at it. May even look into polenta, though my kids are from the south and will probably call it mush.
