September Food Challenge: Apples!

Writer by night, marketing analyst by day, somehow I manage to create what some might call work-life balance. (Others call it chaos.) You can find me writing here about all things food, as well as other spots in print and across the web. Read More…

FREDERICK, MD is a city ripe with history that dates back to the early 1700s. Its historic downtown area has gone through a 10 year revitalization that is now home to great restaurants, quaint cafes and boutique shops. Frederick is also home to Bryan Voltaggio, chef/owner of VOLT, Family Meal and LunchBox – all located in town.
I have had a couple of dishes with apples and onions cooked and put over pork chops. One of my favorites! We are about to try a turkey sausage with granny smith applies dish.
Mmm…that sounds really good!
I would love to try something with apples this Fall – but I always forget what kind I’m supposed to pick for cooking versus eating.
Leila – sounds like you’ve created another blog post for me! Thanks!
I made an apple crisp last week that got good reviews. I wanted a quick dessert to take to a friends house. Served it with vanilla ice cream! When I was little my Mom would make baked apples. She would core out the center, but leave the bottom, and stuff with brown sugar, cinnamon, raisins, etc. so yummy!
OMG – baked apples…apple crisp. Both sound so good. I’ll have to experiment w/baked apples; never made that before!
