I Met Food Network’s Aaron ‘Big Daddy’ McCargo At #Blogalicious11!

Foodie bloggers aren’t always the focus at most blog conferences. Actually, aside from the the food-centered conferences (FoodBuzz, BlogHer Food, Eat/Write/Retreat, etc.), food writing is pretty much non-existent.

When I leaped into my first blogger conference earlier this year (Bloggy Boot Camp), I was a little worried that I wouldn’t fit in – everyone else seemed to either be a ‘mommy blogger’ or a lifestyle blogger. The SITS Girls assured me, as did past attendees, that content doesn’t matter in a conference. Not really, anyway. It’s more about finding your voice and brand, and networking among others with a similar passion.

That couldn’t have been more true! So, when I signed up for Blogalicious11 I wasn’t worried one bit about fitting in with a sea of non-food bloggers.

However, this conference had a special treat. See, I know that co-founder-conference-creator-extraordinaire Stacey Ferguson (a.k.a. @JusticeFergie) is a foodie too. Not only was Aunt Jemima a major sponsor, along with several other food-related vendors, Stacey and her Blogalicious cohorts offered up an awesome breakfast for dinner “Binner” extravaganza on Saturday night. Who doesn’t love French Toast Monte Cristo sandwiches and Bananas Foster pancakes for dinner?

She also had Food Network’s very own Aaron “Big Daddy” McCargo Jr. as the evening’s guest. Squweeee!

Not only did I get a super fabulous photo op, I was also able to stalk him down for politely ask Chef Aaron to sign my copy of his new cookbook Simply Done, Well Done (part of the awesome swag bag!).

Had a great time – looking forward to Blogalicious12!
