Sometimes there’s nothing that hits the spot better than a bowl of cereal—definitely for breakfast, but even for dinner on occasion.

I’m no Jerry Seinfeld (he eats cereal for practically every meal at home), but on a busy weeknight where I only have time to rush dinner for the kids, and I don’t get to sit down to eat until after they’re in bed?

Cereal it is.

I’ve been a fan of Honey Bunches of Oats since I was a kid. True story.

My parents never let us eat the sweet cereals kids beg for. They viewed those as “dessert.”

As an adult with kids of my own, I get that now!

But, Honey Bunches of Oats was one of those cereals that made the “OK” list for my folks.

Sure, it wasn’t pure, unsweetened granola, but it was a choice they considered a healthier option.

We’re not talking dessert in a bowl, dressed with milk.

And, I may not have admitted it as a kid, but it was one of my favorites.

So when I had the opportunity recently to try the newest incarnation of Honey Bunches of Oats, and it involved Greek yogurt, I jumped at the chance!

Honey Bunches of Oats with Greek Yogurt!

New Honey Bunches of Oats Greek is made with two unique granolas made with Greek yogurt, crispy whole grain flakes and a touch of honey.

With thirty-three grams of whole grains, one bowl provides over two-thirds of your day’s whole grains.

As you can see from the photos, I’m a big fan of bananas in my cereal—the added potassium is a bonus, especially when I’m in 5K mode and running a lot.

Bananas (potassium, really) help prevent leg cramps.

Bananas also add a touch of sweetness, and thankfully didn’t overwhelm the light honey and granola flavor baked into the cereal.

So, my verdict on Honey Bunches of Oats Greek Honey Crunch?

Honey Bunches of Oats with Greek Yogurt.

I loved it!

I’ll buy it on my own dime.

Even my eight-year-old enjoyed the bowlful she tried before school one morning last week. “Mmmm, Mom. This is good stuff!”

(I kid you not. And the reason she only had one bowlful is because I totally someone else ate the entire rest of the box.)

I’ve always been a fan of the clusters part of Honey Bunches of Oats cereal, and these Greek yogurt clusters don’t disappoint. They’re ever so sweet, totally crunchy and able to withstand soaking in milk without turning into a soggy mess.

So, what’s the nutritional info look like?

  • 33g of whole grain per serving – over 2/3 your day’s whole grain
  • Serving size: 1 cup
  • 230 calories
  • Provides 12 essential vitamins and minerals
  • 5g protein per serving
