American Food Holidays | November 12 – 18

Taking a look at this week’s food holidays, I’m reminded of a few things:

1. I miss my bread maker. A few Christmases ago, my parents gave me a bread maker. It was stainless and small enough to sit on the counter without taking up too much space. I used it a few times a week, even setting it up the night before to have fresh baked bread waiting in the morning. Heavenly, I tell you! Then, about two years ago, it broke. I’m not sure what happened, but it stopped turning on. After sitting on the floor of my pantry collecting dust for almost two years, I finally got rid of it after realizing A) I was probably never going to get it repaired, and B) It’s probably less expensive to just buy a new one.

2. I still like to eat fast food now and again. Including really bad for you fast food, like Taco Bell. Moderation, folks. Everything in moderation.

3. What is vichyssoise? I had no idea what vichyssoise actually was until creating this week’s food holidays round-up. Heard of it? Yes. Know what it’s made up of? Nope.
