Creative Ways to Pack School Lunch | August Houzz.com Ideabook

Today my 7-year old starts second grade.
SECOND GRADE.
I’d say that makes me feel old, but it doesn’t. Okay, maybe just a little.
I’m ready for the routine that the school year brings, even if things get kind of harried during the work-week. Regular wake-up time, earlier bedtime, evenings that start to darken more and more quickly…. Bring it on!
And then there’s the daily chore of packing the lunch.
Not one of my favorites.
I suppose you’d think I’d get all “Martha Stewart” with my lunch packing prowess, what with being a foodie and all. The reality is, my kid likes boring samethingeveryday lunches. And I’m a little lazy.
Even still, things can be livened up a bit, I think!
Full on Bento? Probably not.
But some of the ideas in my latest Ideabook for Houzz.com may come to fruition this year….
What kind of school lunch packer are you?

  1. I sometimes like to try my hand at packing a bento or I might just draw a smiley face on the banana. I have always made little notes to pack in their lunches and recently I decided to put them online for other parents to print out and use if they wish. Every school day I post free printable lunch notes on my site http://littlelunchnotes.com/. They are illustrated jokes, fun facts, etc. – please take a look.

  2. Great idea with the notes – I’ll definitely check it out. Thanks, Amy!

  3. Great idea of how to pack your lunch for your kids. You know naturally when they are at school there are so many activities they do. Normally they play and after that our children need energy for lunch so it’s important we are aware about that.
