Musings: Blogging & More Blogging

Last updated on November 6, 2010 by Liza Hawkins

I started this blog almost four months ago, and 111 blog posts later things are still going strong. I’ve blogged about recipes, things in the news, products I like (or don’t), restaurants, and other things. There hasn’t been a shortage of content since food-related topics seem to run around in my head at their own will during the day.
But, now I have other things I’d like to write for – things I’ve been approached to write for. And I’m not sure how to balance more writing with the chaos that is our family’s life, unless I turn the velocity down a bit on this blog. Since July 17th, I’ve posted new content every day (except one day, dang.), and I think I’m ready to take the weekends off to use them for other writing and commitments related to (a)Musing Foodie.
What do you think? Could you manage only reading five posts a week versus seven? As a new blogger, obviously I’m terrified worried about losing the small readership force I’ve built up, but hopefully readership is affected by the quality of posts, and not by the number of posts.

Hi, I'm Liza — a self-proclaimed word-nerd who loves getting lost in whimsical stories and epic movies. I have laid-back, practical attitude towards life and am always on the hunt for good eats, easy recipes, binge-worthy shows, relaxing road trip destinations, the perfect fizzy gin cocktail, and time to finish my novel!

  1. Personally, I write 4-5 posts a week. I think that your readers would probably appreciate fewer, but well written posts rather than 7 days a week thrown together ones.

You can’t do it all. I tried. Trust me, it sucks your creativity more than you think. 🙂

  2. We’ll live, Liza! And honestly if I don’t have to be on the computer on the weekends, I try not to be. Need to have some downtown from my usual 8-12 hours of sitting in front of one all week. I love your blog and look forward to it every (week) day!

  3. I do posts M-F, with an occasional weekend post – but I write them all during the week and schedule them ahead of time, leaving my weekends free for whatever.

Some of the best and most-read blogs barely post 1x or 2x a week. I wouldn’t worry about cutting down to 5 from 7!
